This poem was written in 2021, and follows a structure called a pantoum. A pantoum is a poem where the second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. I went a step further and made the first stanza copy the last one to make the poem cyclical.

In the everlasting forest,

cloaked in birdsong.

The light between the leaves

inviting me to rest.

Cloaked in birdsong,

a breeze wanders through the trees,

inviting me to rest

and smelling of lavender perfume.

A breeze wanders through the trees

to find me swallowed by the bushes

and smelling of lavender perfume,

Hiding from the suits and ties.

To find me swallowed by the bushes,

yet again

hiding from the suits and ties,

the forest is not surprised.

Yet again,

alone with my thoughts and the wind.

The forest is not surprised

I want to stay here forever.

Alone with my thoughts and the wind,

the light between the leaves.

I want to stay here forever,

in the everlasting forest.
